How Long Will My Breast Implants Would Last?

Orange County Breast Surgeon

For many years, American women have been restricted to the types of implants they can have for their breast augmentation procedure. There have been only two: saline breast implants, and silicone gel implants. Well, there is a new implant in the U.S. market, and it's called the cohesive gel implant (AKA the Gummy Bear breast implant). If breast augmentation is in your future, you should learn all you can about this fantastic new implant

The longer you have your implants, the more concerned you may become with safety. When you first got your implants, all you cared about was how they look, how they feel, and how soon you'll be able to return to work. After a few years, however, you start to become more and more concerned about the general safety issues associated with the type of breast implant. Can they rupture? If one of them does rupture, how will I know? Will the filler harm my body? How much longer until I need to get them replaced?
The longevity expectations of any breast implant have been ten years for the longest time. After ten years, your implants need to be replaced. The longer you wait, the higher the probability you will experience a rupture. Cohesive gel implants appear to last much longer than ten years While the evidence is still early, it appears that these new implants are not subject to the effects of aging like saline or traditional silicone gel implants.

So what does a cohesive gel implant look like? It's shaped anatomically, meaning it resembles a real breast in slope and shape. The anatomic shape requires that the surface area of the implants exterior shell be textured (it reduces the risk of implant rotation). It should be noted that a gummy bear implant will maintain its form regardless of the position a woman puts her body in: she could be standing on her head, and her anatomically shaped implant will maintain its form.
