One newer liposuction procedure utilizes ultrasonic waves to loosen the fat layer beneath the skin before removal. This ultrasonic assisted technique allows for a smaller incision than the standard procedure and may be a great alternative for patients with smaller areas of concern. This procedure allows them to address these smaller pockets of isolated fat with ultrasonic assisted liposuction and have the fat removed with a syringe instead of the typical vacuum device. In many cases this will reduce the amount of surgery needed and shorten the recovery period for the patient.
