There are several components involved in providing a patient with well-rounded results during the blepharoplasty procedure, and for many people that involves focusing on the lower eyelids. The lower eyelid lift provides Orange County patients with cosmetic improvements and can help them look younger and appear more energized each day. Dr. Kevin Sadati uses specialized techniques in order to give his Newport Beach patients customized, natural-looking results after their lower eyelid lift.
What Cosmetic Improvements Does the Lower Eyelid Lift Offer?
While the upper eyelid lift focuses on eliminating the appearance of a drooping eyelid, the lower eyelid lift focuses on eliminating puffiness from below the eyes. In addition, Dr. Kevin Sadati eliminates the appearance of wrinkles that have formed at the crease of the eyes by removing excess skin from the lower eyelids. Many patients find that they appear younger after this surgery is complete as the eyes are often a target of the aging process. In addition, they look like they have had a good night’s sleep every night, and are more confident in their own appearance.
How is the Lower Eyelid Lift Performed?
Dr. Kevin Sadati utilizes a subciliary approach when he performs the lower eyelid lift. The incision is made directly below the eyelashes, ensuring that it is as invisible as possible. At that point, he removes excess skin and fat that has developed underneath the eyes. Once he has completed the lower eyelid lift, he closes the incision with the finest of sutures. He understands that patients do not want any visible scarring after this cosmetic surgery procedure, and his goal is to make the process as discreet as possible. The surgery takes about three hours to complete.
What is the Recovery Process Like After the Lower Eyelid Lift is Complete?
Patients will find that there is a significant amount of swelling and bruising around their eyes after the surgery. It can take up to two weeks for the swelling to subside. Ice pads can be applied to the eyes in order to help reduce the swelling. Most patients are able to return to work within a week. The final results are typically seen within several months.
The blepharoplasty is a unique cosmetic procedure in the sense that it can be customized for each patient who opts to have it performed by Dr. Kevin Sadati. Some patients only have the lower eyelid lift completed, while others focus on the upper eyelid lift. Both eyelids can be altered at the same time, allowing patients to obtain the results that they both want and need. To find out more about the blepharoplasty procedure and to see if you are a good candidate for the lower eyelid lift, set up a free cosmetic consultation with Dr. Kevin Sadati today.
Choosing to Have Lower Eyelid Surgery in Orange County
Men and women in Orange County want to look as young as they feel. Unfortunately, it can be hard to look youthful when you have baggy lower eyelids and dark circles under your eyes. Patients contact Dr. Kevin Sadati, a prominent Orange County facial plastic surgeon, about lower eyelid surgery after being repeatedly told that they look old and tired, despite feeling youthful and well-rested.
Changes to your lower eyelids are a natural part of the aging process, as your aging skin loses flexibility and succumbs to gravity. Although this aging process occurs all over your body, it is particularly apparent with your eyes – the place people focus when they are talking to you.
Lower eyelid surgery (technically known as a lower blepharoplasty) is designed to reverse the natural aging process by removing excess tissue and fat beneath your eyes. The result is a more rested, youthful appearance.
Benefits of Lower Eyelid Surgery in Orange County
Lower eyelid surgery offers many cosmetic benefits. It can make you look younger, less fatigued and more approachable. Altering your lower eyelids can make your entire face appear younger. Your self-esteem improves as people comment that you look rested and refreshed – instead of asking if you’re tired or suffering from allergies.
Candidates for Lower Eyelid Surgery in Orange County
You are a good eyelid surgery candidate if you are willing to travel to our Orange County office and believe that the area below your eyes is making you look older than you feel. You should also be in good health and not have any serious problems with your eyes. You should have realistic expectations for your lower eyelid surgery and be willing to follow Dr. Sadati’s post-surgical instructions. If you do smoke, you’ll be asked to stop for at least three weeks before and after the procedure, as smoking can delay the healing process.

Your Lower Eyelid Surgery Consultation
Unlike many surgeons, Dr. Sadati takes time to get to know his patients. You will have an extensive consultation. During your consultation, you’ll discuss how you want your eyes to look, as well as your medical history (including surgery to your face and eyes).
Dr. Sadati will look at your facial anatomy to determine what is causing the bags under your eyes. This may be due to excess skin, the stretching of tissue, excess fluid, or the prolapse of orbital fat around your eyes. Dr. Sadati will look at your anatomy and decide if lower eyelid surgery will create the more youthful, rested appearance that you desire. After his examination, Dr. Sadati will tell you honestly if you are a good candidate for lower eyelid surgery.
Lower eyelid surgery will address concerns about the area below your eyes. If desired, lower eyelid surgery can also be combined with upper eyelid surgery or other procedures. This enables you to minimize recovery time and accelerate your cosmetic transformation. It is also more cost-effective to combine multiple procedures.
Dr. Sadati believes in patient education. He will discuss lower eyelid surgery with you in detail and answer all of your questions. You will understand your surgical plan prior to surgery. You will leave the consultation knowing that Dr. Sadati cares about you and wants the best results possible from your lower eyelid surgery.

Lower eyelid surgery uses one of these two techniques. The first type is called a transconjunctival blepharoplasty, which makes the incision on the inside of the eyelid. The advantage of this incision is that no scars are visible. Fatty pockets are removed, then the skin is tightened with fractionated Co2 laser. There is no risk of unnatural look to the eye with this technique. With the other technique, transcutaneous blepharoplasty, the incision is made below the eyelashes. Excess fat is removed or repositioned, the orbicularis muscle is tightened,
