The Brazilian Butt Lift is a confusing term for those interested in buttock enlargement. The misleading part of its name is that of the lift. It is absolutely logical to assume that the buttocks are actually moved upward by some type of tissue lifting or relocation. This would usually mean that skin and fat is removed and tightened like that of a tummy tuck or a breast lift. But that is not the case.

The qualifying term is the Brazilian word that precedes butt lift. Understanding the significance of this country descriptor goes a long way towards appreciating the ethnic importance of larger buttocks and what is actually done during this cosmetic procedure.

The buttock has long been associated as an important sexual feature of a woman. The buttocks are anatomically formed by the muscles of the hips and upper leg. The overlying skin and fat help make its overall shape but the size of the muscle plays the key role. This muscular feature has been given many cultural interpretations but it is largely aligned with the organs of reproduction. Thus when cosmetic surgery is performed on them, it is to increase their sexual attractiveness.

The buttock lift as we know it today comes out of Brazilian plastic surgery. The Brazilians downplay breast size but emphasize buttock size and shape…the exact opposite of American and Canadian. This is the Brazilian view of the body. Given the large number of cosmetic surgeons in that country, Brazil has become an international center for cosmetic surgery and their techniques have subsequently been promoted all over the world.

Orange County Plastic Surgery Forum:

Enlargement of the buttocks or buttock enhancement is a plastic surgery procedure that has become more commonly requested and performed in the past several years than ever before. Ten years ago, this was a procedure that was unheard of and rarely done. Due to cultural influences and a changing population mix, the shape and size of the buttocks has become an aesthetic issue of importance.

The buttocks is a three-dimensional structure of which its size and shape are both important. For some patients, their buttocks is too flat and lacks any definition, for other patients it is an issue of size more than shape. As a result, when it comes to buttock re-shaping, one has to consider what procedures can increase size as well as shape. It often takes a combination of procedures to create the best buttock result.

Your perfect body contours with implant or by fat grafting.

Modified From New You Magazine

Body contouring isn’t always a matter of nipping, tucking and trimming. Often it’s enhancement, not reduction, that we’re looking for, and, whether it’s adding some volume to that visage, a boost to those breasts or a curve to your bottom line, cosmetic surgery has full body options.

Cleavage woes? If you long for a more shapely bosom than was granted by Mother Nature, or for restoring the lift and shape diminished by Father Time, look no further than your local board-certified surgeon.

Options for augmentation generally include saline and silicone implants, both approved by the FDA and widely considered to be highly safe. Saline implants are made of an outer silicone elastomer shell filled with sterile salt water and, because they can be filled after being inserted, only a small incision is usually needed. Silicone is actually a gel, and though it requires a larger incision to place, proponents say that silicone implants feel more like natural breasts.

In choosing between the two alternatives, then, various pros and cons must be considered. Again, the first decision is where the incision will be made. Saline implants are first inserted then filled, which makes it possible to place them through incisions under the breast (inframammary), along the edge of the nipple (areola), in the armpit (transaxillary), or even through the navel (TUBA). On the other hand, silicone implants are pre-filled and may require a larger incision area, completely eliminating the bellybutton incision area from your list of choices.

Buttock augmentation with your own fat is yet another approach to add fullness, projection and shape to the under projected or flat buttock area. Also known as the Brazilian butt lift, this procedure involves a selective “gentle” liposuction technique, harvesting fat from those areas around the buttocks that tend to hide a more desirable shape and then transferring the fat into the proper areas of the buttocks in multiple layers. Harvesting the excess fat from the sides, above, below, and around the buttocks first enhances the curves and projection prior to the micro fat transfer and makes for an even more shapely derriere. Liposculpture and fat harvesting for buttock augmentation can use excess fat from numerous other areas including the abdomen, back, hips, waist, thighs, knees, and arms as needed.
