Teenage Plastic Surgery Options

When you are a teenager, the way that you look matters. As much as we try to tell our teens that it’s what on the inside that counts, the peer pressure and social structure of high school make it so that your appearance is essential to feeling good about yourself. More and more teens are turning to teenage surgery in order to improve their appearance and boost their self-confidence. Orange County teens will find that when they work with an expert cosmetic surgeon, they will receive the natural-looking results that they both want and need from their cosmetic surgery procedure.

What are the Teenage Plastic Surgery Options?

Rhinoplasty The goal of this cosmetic surgery is to improve the appearance of the nose. Many teens will have bumps on the nasal bridge removed, or they will have their nasal tip reshaped. Ultimately, the surgeon will work to make the nose more harmonious with the rest of the facial features. Male patients must be at least 17 years old, and female patients should be at least 16 years old. The nose has to be fully developed before this surgery is performed.

Otoplasty This procedure adjusts the appearance of the ears. Some people are born with ears that protrude from the face, and it can be a distracting facial feature. The otoplasty pins the ears back to the skull so that they appear more natural.

Chemical Peel A chemical peel is a nonsurgical procedure that helps to freshen a patient’s skin. It removes damaged skin and allows new skin to grow in its place.

Microdermabrasion This is an ideal option for teens who suffer from severe acne. The outer layer of the skin is removed, therefore eliminating acne scars and distracting birth marks. This can allow teens to feel confident in their appearance.

Gynecomastia Some teenage boys suffer from a condition which results in excess breast tissue. This cosmetic procedure eliminates the excess tissue and provides the patient with a more masculine appearance. It can help the patient feel more confident and secure, and helps minimize the emotional distress that is associated with this condition.

Teenage patients must understand that all cosmetic surgery procedures are major operations, and the decision to have one performed should not be taken lightly. All minor patients must have expressed written consent from their parents or legal guardians.
