Dr. Kevin Sadati is proud to announce the addition of the Lumenis M22 to our practice. The Lumenis M22 is a multi-application platform that can be used for IPL Photorejuvenation treatment. IPL stands for intense pulsed light, and can help to improve the appearance of pigmentation, age and sun spots, broken capillaries, and overall skin appearance. It can also treat the following skin conditions:
- Spider veins
- Port wine stains
- Seborrheic keratoses
IPL treatments are ideal for patients who live active lifestyles, since the procedure requires minimal downtime and has a low risk of side effects. This gentle, non-ablative treatment can treat almost any area of the body, including the face, chest, neck, and hands, as well as any other areas that are exposed to the sun.
How Does IPL Work?
During treatment, broad spectrum light is transmitted through a handpiece which is placed on the skin. The light penetrates tissues and is absorbed by blood and melanin. The body naturally removes injured tissues, resulting in a more youthful complexion. The number of IPL treatments that are needed will depend on the condition of the skin and your aesthetic goals. Generally, a series of 3-6 treatments is needed spaced 4-8 weeks apart. Treatment sessions usually only take about 30 minutes to complete and are generally well-tolerated, often being described as feeling like a rubber band snap.
What Can I Expect After Treatment?
IPL treatments require little to no recovery time. Patients can return to work and their everyday activities the same day as the treatment. Patients may experience some redness and swelling, though these effects will resolve with time. Results are long-lasting, and our RN will discuss a proper skin care routine with you so that you can maintain your results for as long as possible.
