Liquid Facelift vs Surgical Facelift: What are the Pros and Cons of Each?

Liquid Facelift vs Surgical FaceliftThe first signs of aging often affect the face first, resulting in fine lines, wrinkles, and a loss of volume, creating a sagging appearance. If you want to enhance your look for a younger appearance, you might be considering a surgical procedure like the facelift. However, more and more people are opting for the nonsurgical liquid facelift instead! Before you make your decision, learn the pros and cons of each option.

What is a liquid facelift?

The liquid facelift isnt actually doing any surgical lifting! Instead, injectable fillers are strategically placed to give a lifted appearance, filling out the cheeks, eyes, and mouth, and smoothing out wrinkles and folds. The procedure appeals to many because there are no incisions needed, which means less discomfort and little to no downtime. The results are also instant, so you can enjoy your new appearance right away. The downside to this procedure is that it is not as long-lasting as a surgical procedure. Eventually, the fillers will naturally breakdown, requiring a touch up session. The time it takes for this to happen differs for everyone, but you can expect results to last about 3-12 months.

What is a surgical facelift?

A surgical facelift involves carefully placed incisions around the ears and within the hairline. The facial tissue is then lifted and tightened, and excess skin is removed. This results in more definition to the cheeks, reduced sagging in the midface and jowls, and smoothed lines and wrinkles. The procedure is appealing because it gives dramatic results, taking many years off your appearance, and giving long-lasting results. However, like any surgical procedure, you will require anesthesia and some downtime and discomfort from facelift surgery. This will involve some patience before you can enjoy your results.

Deciding between the two

When deciding between the two procedures, ask yourself how severe your signs of aging are and if youre ready for a surgical procedure or not. If you experience lines and wrinkles with mild volume loss, a liquid facelift will likely give you effective results! But for more severe sagging and folds, you may want to opt for a surgical procedure. If youre not ready to undergo a surgical procedure and commit to long-term results, you might choose the liquid facelift first. You can always opt for the surgical procedure in the future if your signs of aging become more severe.
