Which Facelift is Right for You?

There are many different types of facelifts, each offering unique benefits depending on the needs of the patient. With so many options, how do you know which facelift is right for you? Dr. Kevin Sadati, Medical Director and board certified facial plastic surgeon at the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, has compiled a list of some of the most popular facelift options and the differences between them:

Lifestyle Lift

The Lifestyle Lift was shut down in 2015 but still remain one of the most highly marketed facelift names. It was focused on speed, performed under local anesthesia with the goal to quicken the surgeon’s speed so the patient could be in and out fast. However, this type of procedure would not address a heavy neck, platysmal bands or a low hyoid bone.

Lunchtime Lift MD„¢

Lunchtime Lift MD„¢ uses Ultherapy, currently the only FDA-cleared non-invasive lift which uses ultrasound to tighten and tone the skin on the patients neck and brow. This method works by focusing ultrasound to stimulate collagen deep within the skin. This produces tighter, better-fitting skin without surgery but will only benefit a neck and face with little laxity.

SMAS Facelift

The SMAS, or superficial musculoaponeurotic system, facelift technique tightens the SMAS layer along with the overlying skin in a more youthful position. Specifically, the SMAS facelift lifts and tightens the jowls, neck, and cheeks.

Liquid Facelift

With the proper skill, injectables like BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin, and other various dermal fillers can be used to create a non-surgical Liquid Facelift. Using these special injectables, the surgeon can sculpt, contour, and lift areas of the face for a younger look without any incisions. This type of lift will need to be repeated once the body has metabolized all of the injectibles.

Natural Facelift

Dr. Sadati pioneered the double c-plication facelift technique which offers a natural approach to a younger-looking face. In a landmark research paper, Sadatis technique was published by the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery in their March 2011 issue. This revolutionary technique provides a durable and natural-looking facelift with the added benefit of a quick recovery. The procedure is done in the office using local anesthesia and twilight sedation without the need for general anesthesia.

Can I Pair Another Procedure with a Facelift?

Often, patients who undergo a facelift may pair it with another cosmetic procedure to maximize the benefits and minimize downtime. Facelifts pair well with a number of other procedures including fat grafting, blepharoplasty, laser resurfacing, chin augmentation and cheek augmentation. Facelifts also pair well with medical grade skincare, as a pre or post-procedural regiment.
