Rhinoplasty, more commonly known as the nose job, has been performed for hundreds of years.
In fact, it is the second most performed plastic surgery in the United States today. There are many types of nose jobs, including open, closed, revision, and involve aesthetic as well as functional goals.
Of course, nose jobs also involve surgical techniques that has been perfected by science and technique. The term, “going under the knife” often means electing for a surgical procedure. Rhinoplasty procedures are designed to correct a misshapen nose from injury or birth defect. Many nose job candidates simply want a sleeker or more demure nose.
Of course, one of the most feared aspects of nose jobs is the painful recovery associated with the cutting technique. No matter how small the incision, a nose job can sometimes involve invasive procedures that have traumatic after effects on the nerves. But, what if there was a way to have a Rhinoplasty without the nasty recovery or the groggy hangover from anesthesia? Perhaps there is a solution: a non-surgical nose job.
Non surgical rhinoplasty is performed without surgical means and describes a new technique for reshaping the nose. The non-surgical method employs an injectable filler in order to manipulate the nasal shape and achieve the desired results.
Besides injectable fillers, plastic surgeons also use flexible, removable inserts to change the shape of the nose. The advantages of the non-surgical method present in two primary factors: price and recovery time. Fillers and inserts are considerably less expensive than traditional forms of Rhinoplasty and, because they are administered on an outpatient basis, recovery usually takes hours or days instead of weeks and months.
Of course, there are important drawbacks to the non-surgical method. First, they are, by definition temporary and limited in scope. Fillers will subside after a few months and inserts can only slightly enhance the look of the nose. What’s more, many patients have reported discomfort with nasal inserts. Whatever the decision, the non-surgical is a great option for those wanting a smaller change to their nose as opposed to a drastic overhaul.
