Liposuction is one of the most requested procedures in the country by patients to help them reduce the fat layer on problem areas of their body. While liposuction can help eliminate many of these fat deposits, it should not be used in place of a regular diet and exercise routine. It is mainly intended to help a patient eliminate either fat deposits that occur due to heredity and cannot be reduced through diet, or as a final adjustment after a patient has dieted and were left with some problem areas.
Dr. Sadati has a vast amount of experience with a wide range of liposuction techniques and has been offering the procedure in Orange County for some time. He can help a patient decide what type of liposuction is right for them and will spend the necessary time with each patient to ensure a positive outcome that will meet their expectations. This can range from smaller liposuction procedures to reduce an isolated problem area to more extensive procedures.
Most liposuction sessions last about an hour and can be done under simple IV sedation and will also include tumescent infiltration. This tumescent infiltration contains a combination of adrenalin and very diluted anesthetic that helps with the removal of the fat cells.
One newer liposuction procedure utilizes ultrasonic waves to loosen the fat layer beneath the skin before removal. This ultrasonic assisted technique allows for a smaller incision than the standard procedure and may be a great alternative for patients with smaller areas of concern. This procedure allows them to address these smaller pockets of isolated fat with ultrasonic assisted liposuction and have the fat removed with a syringe instead of the typical vacuum device. In many cases this will reduce the amount of surgery needed and shorten the recovery period for the patient.
In addition to the standard liposuction procedure used on the waistline and hips, Dr. Sadati also offers a mini liposuction treatment for areas of the face a neck with unwanted fat deposits. This more specialized liposuction procedure is something that Dr Sadati has been offering for some time in Newport Beach and can be combined with other facial techniques in a single visit if desired.
The application of the tumescent infiltration that Dr. Sadati provides helps to minimize bleeding and speeds healing for the patient after the procedure.

How does liposuction work?
Liposuction is used to remove fat deposits that do not respond well to diet and exercise. Dr. Sadati uses tumescent liposuction, a very safe form of liposuction that has been safely used since the late 1980s.
“Tumescent” means “swollen” and is an appropriate description for how liposuction works. The process begins by injecting a large volume of liquid into the fat beneath the skin. This solution contains saline, lidocaine (a local anesthetic), and epinephrine (to reduce bleeding). Once the solution is injected, the area becomes swollen. The next step is to insert a small tube (called a canula) into your body to suction the fluid and fat. Dr. Sadati will move this canula back and forth in the area being treated. The extracted fluid and fat is collected and measured to ensure that the correct amount of contouring is done.

For the following month, compression garments should be worn at night. Bruising may be evident for five to seven days following liposuction.
