Restylane Defyne Orange County

Orange County Restylane Defyne

At the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery in Newport Beach, California, board certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Kevin Sadati offers a variety of facial rejuvenation procedures, including dermal filler injections with products created by Restylane®. For nearly 20 years, these products have been used to diminish the signs of aging and newer formulations continue to be developed. Restylane has recently introduced two more FDA-approved dermal fillers, one of which is Restylane Defyne®. These new fillers offer outstanding flexibility, which makes them ideal for use in the areas around the mouth and under the eyes.

Using Fillers to Address the Aging Process in and Around Orange County

Throughout the aging process, skin loses its elasticity. This lost elasticity allows wrinkles, lines and deep folds to form. Today, these signs of aging can be treated using dermal fillers: Common issues addressed include marionette lines (the lines that run from the outer corners of the mouth down towards the chin) and the nasolabial folds (the lines running from each side of the nose to the corresponding corners of the mouth).

The Next-Generation of Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers is Available in Orange County

While the traditional dermal filler gels consisting of hyaluronic acid are relatively soft, the fillers used to provide deep support are more stiff, therefore, if a large volume of the stiffer filler is used, the patient’s facial flexibility is inhibited. Although Restylane Defyne is a dermal filler gel consisting of hyaluronic acid: It offers flexibility and soft support, which allows patients who choose to have Restylane Defyne injections to enjoy natural-looking results.

The benefits of Restylane Defyne injections in Orange County include:

  • provides a long-lasting effect;
  • allows for natural facial expressions;
  • provides support with lift; and
  • Has a characteristic similar to skin.

The Restylane Defyne Difference

When compared to traditional dermal fillers, Restylane Defyne is different because it is crafted using cross-linking technology (XpresHAn Technology™). This innovative technology allows the injector to perform facial rejuvenation procedures that provide patients with natural-looking, flexible results that do not affect the patient’s facial expressions.

A Dermal Filler Consultation with Dr. Sadati

During the initial consultation, patients should be straightforward in relation to what they would like to achieve with Restylane Defyne injections. Once our office knows the patient’s primary concerns, he will have the information he needs to make recommendations as to which treatments will provide the patient with the desired results. When creating a treatment plan, the patient’s age, overall objectives and ethnicity are taken into consideration.

How to Prepare for Restylane Defyne Injections in Orange County

Patients need to avoid using medicines that thin the blood for about two weeks before their dermal filler injection procedure. Blood thinning medications can lead to an increase in the amount of bruising and/or swelling an individual experiences following the procedure.

Over-the-counter medicines to avoid include:

  • fish oil;
  • aspirin;
  • vitamin E; and
  • ibuprofen.

Patients who take prescription blood thinners must continue taking this medicine (as well as any other prescription medicines) until they speak with their provider.

Individuals with a history of developing herpes (cold sores) in the treatment areas should mention this before their Restylane Defyne injection procedure. Once we know about the possibility of cold sores developing, medication can be ordered that is designed to keep an outbreak from occurring.

On the day of the procedure, patients should arrive at the Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery with a clean face that is free of moisturizers, makeup and any other type of facial cream.

What to Expect During Treatment with Restylane Defyne

Our registered nurse Suzanne Rogers performs dermal filler treatments in the office. These procedures are relatively quick, typically lasting no longer than 60 minutes. Due to the topical numbing agents and Lidocaine used during the treatment session, patients are comfortable throughout the Restylane Defyne procedure. Treatment areas will determine how many syringes of dermal filler are required to achieve optimal results.

Restylane Defyne Injections: The Treatment Session

  1. The ideal areas for injection are determined by provider.
  2. Areas being treated are thoroughly cleaned.
  3. To numb the patient’s skin and alleviate any discomfort, we may apply a topical anesthetic.
  4. The treatment areas are sterilized.
  5. Restylane Defyne is injected
  6. After completing the injection, the area may be sterilized again.

Directly following the treatment session, results are visible. The results achieved can last up to 12 months. To maintain the results, we usually recommend that patients return at some point between 6 and 9 months.

Facial Rejuvenation Injections with Restylane Defyne Gel in Orange County: Recovery

Most patients do not experience any downtime after dermal filler injections with Restylane Defyne. However, it is not uncommon for patients to experience some swelling, bruising and/or redness. These symptoms are relatively short lived, typically lasting for about 3 days (but can last up to 10 days). The symptoms experienced following Restylane Defyne treatment depend on the patient’s tendency to bruise as well as the number of injections he or she received.

Facial rejuvenation injections in Orange County – at-home care:

  • Patients need to avoid squeezing or massaging the treated areas; otherwise, the results achieved can be negatively affected.
  • Cold packs can be used to reduce bruising and swelling. The cold packs can remain on the treated areas for approximately 15 minutes each hour. This icing procedure should continue for several hours after the dermal filler treatment. It is important to note that ice should never be placed directly on the skin.
  • Patients who received injections in their cheeks are required to sleep on their back the night of their procedure.
  • Patients who had their lips treated should keep their head elevated while they sleep as this reduces inflammation.
