Many unattractive features of the nose can be improved by rhinoplasty, also known as nose job surgery. This procedure can reduce the width, hump, length, or tip of a nose making it narrower, straighter, shorter, and cuter. Rhinoplasty is indicated for men and women who are sixteen years of age, or older. Many teens choose to fix their nose prior to attending college.
Functional problems can also be corrected at the same time. A deviated nasal septum or enlarged turbinates can cause breathing problems that can be corrected with a procedure called a septoplasty. When rhinoplasty and septoplasty procedures are combined to correct the aesthetic and functional issues of the nose, the procedure is known as a septo-rhinoplasty. In many cases, insurance can be used to help cover expenses of a septoplasty, reducing the patient’s out of pocket responsibility. Insurance will not cover a cosmetic rhinoplasty.
